I met Dr Hyatt when I took my 12 year old daughter for her pre-braces check up.
Dr Hyatt insisted that prior to her getting braces, he would monitor her for a set period of time to check her teeth cleaning habits (apparently a large percentage of people who wear and pay a fortune for braces end up with discoloration and/or cavities because their brushing techniques are not good before the braces were placed on the teeth).
He cleaned her teeth, showed her a few techniques to brush and floss and sent her away for a 10 day period. After 10 days we returned and he stained her teeth and showed her the areas that she had missed and showed her a new technique to get better results at the back and behind her teeth. After another 10 days she was given the go-ahead to start the braces process.
My daughter had to have 5 teeth pulled, they were all extracted by Dr Hyatt and he was great. She didn't miss a day of school, all appointments were scheduled to suit her 'busy' after-school timetable and appointments were always on time.
Dr Hyatt has a soft and gentle approach but was also very firm in his belief that oral hygiene should be learned well.
