Dr Ana Teixeira United Arab Emirates

Dr. Ana Teixeira is a European Board Certified Consultant Rheumatologist with over 20 years of experience. Dr. Teixeira graduated in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Lisbon and Specialized in Rheumatology by the Portuguese Medical Association. She has also been trained in Switzerland and France, in the Services of Rheumatology of the Cantonal Hospital of Genebra and the Henri Mondor Hospital, in Paris. Between 1990 and 2013, she worked at the Portuguese Institute of Rheumatology, in Lisbon, which is one of the first units of Rheumatology in Europe (founded in 1948) where she also worked as the Clinical Director from 2005 till 2011, and as a Board Member. She then worked in Dubai for two years at the Al Biraa clinic prior to joining the HealthBay Group in May 2015, where she found a multidisciplinary and high qualified team that helps approach the rheumatic patient as a whole. She has many years of experience working in all areas of Rheumatology, including: rheumatoid arthritis, seronegative arthritis, spondyloarthritis (ankylosing spondylitis, psoriatic arthritis, reactive arthritis, related to inflammatory intestinal diseases), gout, lupus, scleroderma, Sjogren’s and Behcet’s syndroms, vasculitis, gout, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis and osteopenia, vitamin D deficiency, acute and chronic tendinitis, neck pain, upper and lower back pain, muscle pain, fibromyalgia, and postural imbalance. She has trained in early diagnosis of arthritis, prevention of rheumatic diseases and osteoporosis, biologic treatments and doppler ultrasonography. Dr. Teixeira is actively involved in leading teams, specialty internship training and research. She conducted several clinical studies, published in major Rheumatology journals, organized several scientific meetings and attended major conferences of Rheumatology. She is a member of the Emirates Society of Rheumatology, Portuguese Society of Rheumatology, Emirates Society of Osteoporosis and Portuguese Society of Osteo-metabolic Diseases. She is fluent in English, French, Spanish and Portuguese.
