Alexandra Collishaw United Arab Emirates

Alexandra (Ally) qualified in 1998 from the University of Nottingham in the United Kingdom (UK) after which she completed a post graduated diploma in Sports Physiotherapy at Bath University in the UK. She worked within the National Health Service for 5 years and then served as a Military Physiotherapist in the British Army for 7 years. During her time with the British Military Alexandra worked all around the world providing treatment and rehabilitation, often in challenging environments before moving to work in Dubai in 2011. She then joined the optimalTHERAPY team in 2015. Ally has previously worked as the Physiotherapist for the Great Britain (GB) Long Course Triathlon Team, the British Army Rugby and Cricket teams and treated numerous GB athletes at the ‘Team Bath’ Sports Injuries Clinic in the UK. Ally also worked closely with the physiotherapy program providing care for Disabled Military athletes competing in the Safaricom Marathon in Kenya as part of the Military ‘BattleBack’ project. Ally has a special interest in both Sports Injuries and Rehabilitation as well as being one of a handfull of qualified Womens Health Physiotherapists in Dubai. She has a special interest in pregnancy related problems both pre- and postnatal, treating conditions such as pelvic and back pain, incontinence and prolapse. She gained great experience working closely with Dr George Michailidis at Genesis Perinatal clinic dealing with some high risk and multiple pregnancies patients. She is passionate about helping ladies get back to exercise safely post pregnancy and enjoying a balanced life. Ally is continuously developing professionally by completing courses and attending conferences throughout the year to maintain an up to date knowledge base. She has two small children and finds time in what little she has spare to cycle and run and has completed the London Marathon and several triathlons. As a dedicated member of the optimalTHERAPY team, she has even been seen working on fellow athletes assisting with post race recovery after having already completed the course herself.
